Refugi Gats d'Oliva

Who are we
We are a non-profit association located in Oliva (Valencia). We manage the feline colonies of the city and control the shelter located in the street Senda dels Lladres.

This association was born from a part of the Protectora de animales Vedama de Oliva to separate the cats from the dogs and to have a better control over the colonies.

It is formed by volunteers who love cats, with the commitment to give them a better life and in order to find a permanent home for all the animals that pass through the shelter.
The association is basically financed by individuals who make monthly or sporadic financial contributions, and by fundraising by volunteers.

In the short time that we have been active, we have been able to manage the colonies of the city, the loss and/or abandonment of cats in the street and the numerous adoptions, which motivates us to continue.
The shelter
The shelter is located in Senda dels Lladres street, number 1.
In its interior two rooms have been adapted, with 8 and 5 cages each, for the control of the smallest cats and those that need medical attention.

It also has two quarantine rooms for animals with an infection, to separate them, cure them and not cause the spread of infection.

The outside area has kennels and a tent for the more adult cats that are loose in the shelter. In addition, there is a part of the interior of the shelter where these cats can access to shelter from the cold and be more protected.

For now, we continue with the works to adapt the shelter to all the amount of homeless animals, since, unfortunately, the abandonments are very frequent.
The Oliva City Council has provided us with these premises to provide this service and helps us with water and electricity.
